Museo

Cappella San Severo

Located in the heart of the ancient center of Naples near the Church of San Domenico Maggiore, the Sansevero Chapel Museum is a milestone of international artistic heritage. The chapel, now deconsecrated, is in Neapolitan Baroque style and is one of the city’s most fascinating and mysterious places.. The chapel treasures masterpieces such as the famous Cristo Velato whose image has traveled around the world owing to the prodigious "weaving" of the marble veil that seems to rest on the dead Christ, a work by the Neapolitan Giuseppe Sanmartino - and other wonders such as Disinganno and Pudicizia, as well as enigmatic items as Anatomical Machines..

The Sansevero Chapel represents one of the most unique monuments that human genius has ever conceived..

Chiostro di

Santa Chiara

The Chiostro delle Clarisse, or Majolica cloister, is one of the most beautiful and evocative areas of the Monastery of Santa Chiara. It represents an unexpected little treasure in the very heart of the city. Originally created as a medieval garden, it was modified by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro between 1739 and 1769. While leaving the original Gothic structure of the cloister intact, the Neapolitan architect created two wide centrally located internal avenues, which thus divide the ancient cloister into four sectors: two arranged as an Italian garden with hedges and fountains, and two designed as a citrus grove.

Proceeding towards the exit of the cloister, one will find the hall where a nativity scene with shepherds from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is preserved. It depicts characters and scenes from the daily life of the time, reproduced with meticulous care.
